Learning to Play Hockey
For years, the Swansea Hockey Association (SHA) has been teaching children in our neighbourhoods the joy of skating and the thrill of learning hockey, all in the majestic setting of Rennie Park outdoor rink. SHA runs an informal yet highly organized and fun instructional Learn To Skate program where children 4-6 years old learn, with their parents' assistance, to feel comfortable moving around on the ice. Once kids have mastered skating many get involved in the Learn To Play Hockey program where boys and girls are introduced to hockey and skating drills by trained coaches along with parent volunteers. Both programs happen under the watchful eye of Tim Flood, the president of SHA and dedicated on-ice coaches, Gerald Masters and Mergim Shena. The emphasis throughout is to provide a fun, vibrant learning environment for all involved. For more information, visit www.swanseahockeyassociation.com.
