New Year's Eve Family Skating Party
New Year's Eve just wouldn't be the same without the annual Family Skating Party at Rennie Park Rink in Swansea. A light drizzle during the day didn't keep the crowds away from the fun that evening. Kids and parents enjoyed a leisurely skate around the two outdoor rinks while a DJ provided rockin' music throughout the evening. Hot chocolate, hot dogs, cookies and other snacks were available to keep up the skating energy levels. There was also a bonfire set up adjacent to the rink that the skaters took advantage of to stay warm. At 8 o'clock the scoreboard started an hour-long countdown that ended with a rousing cheer of "Happy New Year" from all those in attendance. Many thanks to the Swansea Community Recreation Centre and its Advisory Council for hosting another terrific community event.
