Junction Arts Festival
The Junction staged its annual Junction Arts Festival in style over a five-day period in September, kicking off with an opening night party on Wednesday, September 9th and wrapping up on Sunday, September 13th. Now in its 17th year, the festival attracted more than 200,000 visitors. This year's festival proved to be bigger and better as it benefited from some beautiful weather. Like a mosaic, the festival weaved a multitude of eclectic cultural and artistic elements together to create one huge celebration. It attracted local and international artists that ignited the one-kilometre festival footprint between Quebec Ave. and Keele St. It offered 23 impromptu galleries called "Red Hot Art Spots" located in area shops, several stages that featured live music and theatre performances, dancing and acrobatic acts, and lots of activities for the kids. The festival truly had something for everyone as record crowds strolled up and down the street to take in all of the fun and excitement. And let's not forget about the delicious food that was available courtesy of the local restaurants who brought selected menu items to the street party.
Thanks to all of the sponsors, participating retailers, members of the Festival Committee and the many volunteers who made this year's festival a wonderful success.
