Helping Small Business Succeed

Ontario is making it easier for businesses to work with government so they can focus on what they do best — creating jobs. Sophia Aggelonitis, MPP and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Small Business and Consumer Services, was at Studio Cycle Group in the Junction on May 26th to discuss the Ontario government’s commitment to small businesses. A number of small business owners attended the Town Hall event to learn and ask questions about government strategies and services dedicated to helping small businesses succeed.
The Open for Business strategy is an ongoing plan to make government faster and friendlier for families and businesses. As part of the strategy, the government is introducing three initiatives: (1)
The government will reduce the amount of regulation in Ontario by 25 per cent in the next two years; (2)
A new 1-800 number will provide businesses with a single contact for government information; and (3)
Ontario businesses will be able to use their federal Business Number for dealing with provincial ministries of Revenue and Labour, with other ministries and agencies to be included at a later date.
