Mother's Day Clothing Swap

In early spring, Mary and Jen, co-owners of Wise Daughters Craft Market, came up with the idea to hold a clothing swap, mostly as a recession-busting, community-building kind of event, but also as a modest fundraiser for The Redwood Shelter. Once the word went out for clothes, it went viral and the response was astounding. The Junction community could not have embraced the event with more enthusiasm. On May 9th, despite ominous skies, torrential rain and hail earlier in the day, people ventured out to shop, shop, shop. Even at $1 per item, they raised far more money than ever anticipated, 100% of which goes to the shelter. Due to the overwhelming success there will be a follow-up to this effort. On June 13th, the day of the first annual Junction-wide yard sale, Wise Daughters will put out the remaining fashion riches in front of the shop. This time, shoppers will be able to take away as much as they can stuff into an oversized paper bag for just $10. Once again, all proceeds will go to The Redwood Shelter.
