2008 November > Children's Pillage in the Village
One of Bloor West Village's most anticipated events of the year returned on September 28th as families lined up outside the Swansea Community Centre for their chance to purchase gently used children's items at unbelievable prices. The line-up of shoppers started to build well before the 1:00pm start and when the flood gates finally opened the shopping frenzy began. More than 240 shoppers scoured the gymnasium full of children's items searching through clothing, footwear, sports equipment, maternity fashions, strollers, toys and more for what they wanted and needed most. It was a wonderful afternoon of shopping that allowed parents to save some money while buying useful products for their children from the huge number of vendors that participated (over 30 more than last year). Almost $2,500 worth of items were again donated when the sale ended, including a dresser, strollers, high chairs, exersaucers, and maternity and children's clothes, to the Parkdale Parents’ Primary Prevention Project (5 Ps) at St. Joseph's Health Centre.
