2008 November > Swansea Cheers on Marathoners
The Swansea community hosted a neighbourhood cheering and entertainment centre at Lakeshore Blvd. W. and Windermere Ave. on Sunday, September 28th to support the participants of the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Hundreds of excited people gathered to create an amazing cheering section for the more than 10,000 marathon runners from over 35 countries that ran or walked in the marathon. Families and friends came by to also enjoy the entertainment that included dancers, martial artists, fitness demonstrations and music. Pancakes were served and Cheese Boutique provided delicious pastries and treats to keep the energy high for cheering on the marathoners. Many thanks to the four Swansea organizations who organized the event: Swansea Area Ratepayers' Association, Swansea Community Recreation Centre, Swansea Royal Canadian Legion and Swansea Town Hall. We're looking forward to seeing the important event become an annual one.
