The fab four (l-r): Kirk Scheiblehut, Michal Kapral, Simon Hodge and Jake Graham

World Record Attempt...Oh, So Close!!!

On Friday, August 29th, many Bloor West residents made their way downtown to Varsity Stadium for an unusual fundraiser. The event centered around an attempt at the 5km Guinness World Record for "joggling," a combination of running and juggling. With the aid of pacers, or "Jogglers," local Bloor West residents Simon Hodge and Michal Kapral attempted to break the current world record time of 16 minutes, 55 seconds. On pace for most of the race, Hodge dropped the ball twice in the last one-hundred metres and finished in 17 minutes and 4 seconds, a mere 9 seconds off the world record. However, the time is still enough to stand as an unofficial Canadian record. Kapral was not far behind, finishing just one second later. Most importantly, the race raised $840 for the World Wildlife Fund.
