Junction City Centennial Weekend

One hundred years after the Junction was incorporated as the City of West Toronto, the area was bustling with activity as people came together for the "Junction City" Weekend Centennial celebration in mid April. It served as the official kick-off to a year of festivities celebrating this monumental occasion. From April 12th to 14th, crowds of people participated in an historical weekend of free activities and were transported back in time, and SNAP was there (in the present) to capture the festival atmosphere. There were games and activities, photo exhibits, hourly Vaudeville acts, a "Legends of the Junction" historical pageant, historical walking tours of the local area, and much more. We also witnessed the unveiling of the Junction Train Platform at Dundas Street West and Pacific Avenue. The 500-foot-long roofed platform will serve as a place to gather for weekend events during the year-long festivities. The weekend was presented by the Junction Forum for Art and Culture in association with the West Toronto Junction Historical Society, and sponsored by the Junction Business Improvement Area. Congratulations to the Junction and all those who made the weekend such a tremendous success!
